Sleighs, Trains, and Tobogganing

Where: Ma & Pa’s Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides, 15161 Main Market Road, Burton; 440.548.5521; Shamrock Horse and Carriage Tours, 1934 St. Clair Avenue; Cleveland; 216.280.2097

Why: Horse-powered rides through the snow make for some great memories. If you’re looking for a rural experience, then Ma & Pa’s in Geauga County is where you want to be. If you want to see the city carriage-style, then our recommendation is Shamrock. On second thought, our recommendation is to do both.

Where: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, Peninsula Depot, 1630 Mill Street, Peninsula; Rockside Road Station, 7900 Old Rockside Road, Independence; Akron Northside Station, 2912 Riverview Road, Akron; 330.439.5708.

Why: These warm and cozy trains are perfect for enjoying the snow-blanketed hills of the Cuyahoga Valley. All aboard!

Where: Chalet at Mill Stream Run Reservation, Strongsville; 440.572.990

Why: Everyone should have the opportunity to speed down a 700-foot ice chute at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. There are two chutes that keep things moving along. Don’t worry about having to lug your toboggan (provided as part of the ticket price) up the stairs because the toboggan lift handles those chores. You will, however, have to climb the stairs yourself. The lodge offers refreshments and a fire to gather around. Open through March 6, weather permitting.
