About Chef Sherry
Chef Sherry always loved being in the kitchen, or just being around food and people. It’s the one thing she says that can “bring people together . . . it’s the one thing we all have in common.”

Sherry Schie was born in Zion, Illinois as a military child, as her father served in the Navy for over 30 years. Living all over she was raised mostly in Wilmot, Ohio. Sherry spent her childhood watching her grandmother and an Amish neighbor cook in the kitchen. She always wanted to be a part of the fun, and that’s her style . . . having fun in the kitchen!

After marrying her high school sweetheart, they became entrepreneurs and worked together in the automotive industry. Sherry handled marketing, sales and public relations in their retail stores. She also worked for her local church, a local frozen food novelty company and did some food styling for a local cheese manufacture. The next step was to expand her culinary knowledge at the International Culinary Arts and Science Institute.

After attending culinary school, Sherry started doing cooking demos at local stores and wineries. She also began her own Personal Chef Services.

After growing and developing more culinary skills, Chef Sherry opened her restaurant. SHY Cellars!

Since the opening of SHY Cellars, her restaurant won numerous awards:  #1 Best Steaks and Best Fine Dining in The Canton Repository, as well as #1 as Best Chef, Fine Dining Restaurant and Runner Up for her White Velvet Desserts in The Times Reporter and also #1 in the Taste of Tusc on a local level. Chef Sherry has won various First Place Awards at local Cook-Offs as well as a judge at some of these events. Chef Sherry Schie has been featured in the Akron Life Magazine and has been seen on the Food Network with Guy Fieri in “Guy’s Grocery Games”. Chef Sherry also was the #1 Winner at the Akron Canton Food Bank Pro Football Hall of Fame Taste of NFL in 2013 and 2014. Chef Sherry can be seen on local channel TV 2 where she hosts a show, “The Not So SHY Chef."
